Cassady & Lucas: A Rustic and Intimate Wedding Story

Cassady & Lucas: A Rustic and Intimate Wedding Story

Some love stories unfold over years of friendship, and Cassady and Lucas's journey is no exception. From inseparable high school best friends in Illinois to life partners, their story is a testament to patience, connection, and enduring love. Their wedding, set against the stunning backdrop of Sevierville, Tennessee, was a beautiful reflection of their shared history, creativity, and deep bond.
The Beginning of Forever
Cassady and Lucas had known each other for years before they started dating in their 20s. Their friendship blossomed into a relationship, and after three years together, Lucas proposed. Their engagement in August 2023 marked the start of an exciting new chapter, culminating in their intimate wedding on November 9, 2024.
The Venue: A Cozy Cabin in Tennessee
Choosing the perfect venue was an easy decision for Cassady and Lucas. They stayed in one of the stunning Rubens Cabins in Sevierville, Tennessee (link to the Airbnb listing). This spacious and picturesque cabin offered everything they needed—a beautiful location for the ceremony and accommodations for their close-knit group of under 35 guests.
"The cabin was lovely and within a short distance of fun activities," Cassady shared. "The hosts were accommodating, friendly, and quick to respond."
The Style: Personal Touches Everywhere
Cassady, an esthetician with a flair for creativity, touched every detail of the wedding, from her invitations to her bouquet.
Invitations: Designed by Cassady herself, the invitations mimicked a newspaper article announcement—unique, playful, and memorable.
Bouquet: Cassady crafted her bouquet from dried flowers, including lavender, baby's breath, and roses from her late mother's celebration of life. She added pheasant and duck feathers as a nod to Lucas' love of hunting, making it a profoundly personal keepsake.
DIY Elements: From the bouquet to the playlist and even her hair and makeup, Cassady brought her vision to life with her hands.
The Look: Ethereal and Meaningful
Cassady's dress was the Ethereal Floral Embroidered Open Back Gown, paired with a White Wrap Chiffon Mesh Wedding Dress (#1469). The look captured the essence of her rustic wedding palette—rich tones of red, orange, green, purple, and blue.
Her jewelry was equally meaningful. Cassady wore a black Tahitian pearl necklace, a gift from Lucas during their first Christmas together, and her late mother's earrings, honoring her mother's memory as her "something old."
For the ceremony, she went barefoot but later switched to Vans for exploring and capturing more photos. Lucas kept things simple and rustic with boots, complementing the laid-back vibe of their day.
A Feast for the Senses
The couple chose a simple and sweet cake from The WildFlour Bakehouse and crafted their playlist, featuring a range of music to set the mood. The celebration was intimate, heartfelt, and filled with moments of joy.
Favorite Memory
For Cassady, the most cherished moment was spending time alone with Lucas after the ceremony. "Being alone with my husband for the first time after our ceremony—it was perfect," she recalled.
Advice for Brides-to-Be
Cassady shared a few pearls of wisdom for other brides planning their big day:
Wedding Planning: "Pinterest and Etsy are your best friends," she advised.
Marriage Advice: "Wake up daily and work hard to love your person. It's a daily commitment to grow together and appreciate the answered prayers you might not even have recognized at first."
Looking Ahead
While the couple postponed a big honeymoon trip to focus on their little one, they planned a memorable getaway for their 5th or 10th anniversary.
