Kailey and Will’s Adventurous Big Sur, California Elopement

Kailey and Will’s Adventurous Big Sur, California Elopement

When deciding how these two soulmates wanted to say ‘I DO,’ both Kailey and Will agreed that they would rather have an experiential wedding day and decided on a locale they both had on their bucket list of destinations to visit.

So the cliffs of Big Sur, California, it was to be!

Surrounded by just the California cliffside and the Pacific ocean, these two eloped most magically and romantically - just the two of them! *SWOON*

In keeping with the natural backdrop of their wedding local, the two opted for earth-toned attire with Kailey in a stunning vintage-inspired off-white lace gown and a flower crown; Will in green slacks, suspenders, and a Stetson hat - these two kept it simple and ethereal.

Read on for the full story of their adventurous wedding day for some SERIOUS elopement inspo.

Cheers to Kailey and Will! Here’s to a lifetime of adventures together and checking more wild destinations off your bucket list!

We got married on the cliffs of Big Sur, California.

Why did you choose your venue?
We knew rather than having a big, local wedding, we would rather spend our time and money going some place that was on our bucket list and having a ceremony with just the two of us. Big Sur had always been somewhere we'd talked about going, and when it came time to choose our wedding location, it just seemed like the perfect opportunity to check it off of our bucket list..

We didn't have a playlist, but as we ended our day with a picnic at sunset, we listened to 'Old Pine' by Ben Howard.

What is your favorite memory from that day
My favorite memory of the day was ending the evening watching the sunset go down on the beach while we had a picnic. We had hiked around on cliffsides for hours, taking photos, reading our vows, and just enjoying the scenery. After all of that, it was nice to sit down and just enjoy the end of the day with each other in the peaceful and romantic moment.

What is one thing you wish you would have known when planning your wedding?
I wish I had known how much hiking we'd be doing! In picking Big Sur for our location, we expected to just show up at a pretty place and take some rad photos. We had no idea how much effort would go into making those cool photos. We hiked miles and miles down narrow trails on the edges of cliffs. It was so much work, but it was so worth it. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Where did you go on your honeymoon
We went on a road trip through the western United States. We visited a few different national parks, as well as some other amazing landmarks on our trip. We saw so many amazing places, and I truly believe it was the best honeymoon we could have taken!
Our photographer was Michelle Larmand. We found her on Instagram and immediately fell in love with the way she was able to photograph such beautiful and raw moments. We knew she was the one we wanted to capture our big day.
